Roll out the red carpet and dust off the flash bulbs the spotlight falls on the Dixie Film Festival landing in Athens this October 12-13, 2007.
Filmmakers from around the world will be in attendance for over 30 film premieres at the fourth annual film event that makes its own premiere in Athens, GA this fall.
The festival now in its senior year had hailed from Atlanta its previous three seasons and showcased films from around the world including World Premieres for over 50 films.
This year's event marks to be the biggest with the festival running multiple venues at the Lyndon House Art Gallery and its main location the Carmike Cinemas 12 on Lexington Rd.
With over 50 films slated for this years fest, the festival has already confirmed twenty or more filmmakers will be in attendance for their respective film premieres. Hawaii, British Columbia, California and almost a dozen from Georgia will be here to support their projects.
Most noteable will be the East Coast "Sneak Premiere" of the family film "Moondance Alexander" starring Don Johnson, Loro Laughlin, Kaye Pannebaker, James Best and Olympic Gold Medalist Ice Skater Sasha Cohen. The film will screen to an expected capacity crowd on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 3:00pm and will follow with a Q&A by none other than Legendary Screen Actor and supporting star James Best. James is most remembered as Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane from the iconic show the Dukes of Hazzard and from his over 50 years of film & television including five motion pictures with Jimmy Stewart.
One of Dixie’s highlights every year is its “Mason-Dixon” Screenings honoring current films & filmmakers in Georgia concluding with the “Mason-Dixon Award” for Outstanding Georgia Filmmaker. (Mason-Dixon Screening; Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 7pm)
