Feels Like Home is an Appalachian journey through song. Through a stunning visual tour of rural Appalachia and a retrospective of vocal performers, the documentary takes the audience through the roots of the unaccompanied Appalachian folk song into the active preservation of the song style today. They illustrate that, due to the overwhelming invasiveness of current musical technology and current youth trends, the unaccompanied Appalachian folk song is a threatened art form and that without active preservation this musical art form will disappear. Vocal performers include grammy-winner Dr. Ralph Stanley, Nick and Glenda Pender, and the three generations of women, Annie Ruth Stowers, Deborah Self, and Mandy Gilbert.

Aaron returns to his hometown to find his ailing Aunt Enid only has a few days left. His problems escalate when the town busybody spreads the word that Enid will take prayers straight to God for anyone who asks. As the house fills with people anxious for Enid’s service, Aaron is torn between controlling the situation and dealing with the loss of his Aunt.
