2004/3min./Color

Animation/Comedy/Short

“Cold War” is a high tech mix of “old meets new.” The art direction and character design are influenced by 1930’s sci-fi pulp magazines and vintage advertising posters. It’s a tribute to Warner Brothers and Mad Magazine. All these influences were brought together by two students at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan for their Thesis film project. “Cold War” seeks to veer away from standard student films and get back to the roots of animation, namely comedy.

My characters use simple shape. I have four characters. The main character is Light-man and the other characters are Light-man’s boss, the alarm clock and the Light-dog. All characters have a sphere for the head and two cylinders for the eyes. The body is made of a cylinder. I create to make a simple and friendly face.

He lives with an Alarm clock. Although Light-man has a flaw in his character. He always oversleeps and has a bad memory. He oversleeps ,rushes and tears out of the house. He has to run and run. He causes trouble. But he arrives just in time at the Theater.

STORY OF ARCHIBALD WHIMSINGTON, The* "Southern Premiere"
Hilliard, OH.

Director:
Travis Simon

Writer:
Travis Simon

2005/3min./Color

Animation/Comedy/Short

Archibald Whimsington is an eccentric old man, an immigrant from England, and a storyteller. Throughout 'The Story of Archibald Whimsington', we see Archibald and his grandson, Danny, at a dinner table. The bulk of the visuals take place in the animated flashback-like stories themselves.

His stories reveal that he takes credit for the lean in the Tower of Pisa, the creation of Stonehenge, and an unfortunate disaster that closely resembles New Jersey's Hindenburg crash.

The stories make Archibald seem a senile old man, until the end - which leads us to wonder: was he speaking the truth all along?

The comedy is rather kid-friendly until the near-end, but it's still stuff that would likely go over kids' heads.
